We are currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Accounting & Finance department within our Calgary office.

The Financial Analyst will be working closely with their Finance & Accounting teams and Operations staff to ensure the highest level of service is provided to internal and external clients. The Financial Analyst must also both live and promote Modern Niagara's Core Values in all of their actions and support the efforts of the Modern Niagara Team toward the achievement of established financial and business Key Performance Indicators ("KPIs").

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the regional risk and opportunities register for construction business units.
  • Perform project financial audits and evaluate against KPI's to identify project related risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package for Modern Niagara Alberta Construction divisions. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline the financial reporting package or add reports that will help the Executive Team achieve the Company's financial goals more effectively.
  • Support the Finance Manager with the 5-year budgeting and planning process
  • Monitor Work-in-Process ("WIP") reports and work with the Finance and Operations Managers to ensure billing targets are met or exceeded.
  • Monitor Work-in-Process ("WIP") reports and work with the construction business leaders to report and mitigate project level risks impacting the financial performance of the construction business.
  • Promote and support communication between finance team members and Project Managers to ensure contract and invoicing issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support regional finance teams with the implementation of new initiatives.
  • Complete special projects & analysis on an ad-hoc basis for the Alberta construction business.
  • Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and make recommendations for changes to procedures, standard operating procedures, and other financial control functions to the senior finance leaders.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable aging reports on a regular basis and coordinate collection efforts with both Collections and Project Management personnel to ensure cash collection KPIs are met or exceeded.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances.
  • Perform monthly project costing entries.
  • Support Finance Manager with monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of project related financial management.
  • Professional accounting designation preferred or in progress (CPA). An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered for the right candidate.

  • Position will require travel to regional offices, frequency vary throughout the year and will be dependent on business requirements.
