The opportunity
Our System Design West (SDW) team is evolving and requires a Pipeline Hydraulic Engineer to support our Capacity Management Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the hydraulic design and analysis of the NGTL, Foothills, ATCO and Ventures integrated natural gas pipeline systems. You will have the opportunity to learn about every aspect of the business from project inception to retirement while working collaboratively with other stakeholders within the organization.
What you will do
Conduct steady state and transient hydraulic simulation and analysis of facility solutions for the NGTL, Foothills, ATCO, and Ventures integrated gas transmission systems
Evaluate alternatives to ensure facilities align with both technical and economic considerations, long-term requirements and aligns with corporate sustainability goals
Provide design information and technical support to internal/external team such as datasheets, DBMs, drawing packages and review the results and feasibility
Contribute to the preparation of CER facility applications, and support regulatory applications and initiatives
Provide technical support to Commercial and Project Development teams
Collaborate and support the Asset Management and System Operations teams to optimize system operation and maintenance program and conduct hydraulic risk assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
4+ years of experience in the pipeline industry, focused on hydraulic modeling
Engineering degree, Mechanical or Chemical
Self-motivated and strong analytical skills
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work and contribute in a team environment
Registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng with APEGA in Alberta in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the TC Energy integrated pipeline systems
Exposure to Synergi Gas Hydraulic simulator is preferred, experience with other hydraulic software would be beneficial
Demonstrates initiative in coordinating and contributing to process enhancements
Interest in technology and potential to develop programming tools relevant to the role.
