About the role

  • As a Property Appraisal Claims Consultant, you'll leverage your expertise to support management and the Property appraisal team. Your role will involve training, quality assurance activities, and managing both small and large, complex claims files.


What you'll do here:

  • Provide technical support to major loss appraisers and property claims specialists on estimating to ensure operational excellence ad effective indemnity control.
  • Collaborate with management to design, develop and facilitate technical claims training initiatives and programs related to process and workflow changes
  • Conduct audits of claims estimates to ensure compliance with company standards and enhance Claims functions.
  • Identify trends in work performed by the contractors and restorers within the Intact network to ensure adherence to standards, policies, and quality restoration methods.
  • Participate in regional and national projects aimed at improving Claims processes and personnel to better serve customers and meet company goals.
  • Ensure claims standards and procedures comply with contracts, applicable legislation, and case law.
  • Work with the different regions to streamline Standards & Procedures.
  • Provide operational support related to Standards & Procedures during the activation of the CAT Plan.
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with key partners and stakeholders as required.
  • Act as a technical quality, complaints, and training resource for the management team.
  • Assist in managing the appraisal process for commercial and personal property losses.


What you bring to the table:

  • Diploma in building appraisal or University Degree, or a combination of education and experience relevant to the role.
  • In-depth knowledge of property insurance products in both personal and commercial lines.
  • Minimum of 5 years in large loss appraisal for commercial and personal property claims, and 5 years in large restoration or construction project management.
  • Proficiency in Xactimate estimating software and other relevant applications.
  • Previous training experience is an asset.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and insight.
  • Ability to lead meetings and projects effectively.
  • Effective planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Proficiency in French and English is an asset.
