The Opportunity

Our Insurance Risk Management team is evolving to meet the needs of our business, and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta. We are seeking an eager Risk Analyst who has basic knowledge of insurance risk and the ability and desire to learn more. You have the skills, competencies, and capacity to support the team and the company. You will gain experience and knowledge in our diverse portfolio of high-quality, long-life assets spanning five operating businesses in three core geographies.

The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work well independently and efficiently. Candidates with insurance industry experience, advanced Microsoft suite experience and skills, as well as graphics design experience, will be preferred. This role reports to the Manager, Insurance Risk Management.

What you will do:

  • Primary department contact for all certificate of insurance requests
  • Maintenance of corporate insurance policy schedule
  • Recording and organization of inter-company business unit coding
  • Invoice administration and processing, including coding, allocations, and tracking of premium payments
  • Recording and tracking of claim data and payments to a claims database system at the direction of senior analysts and managers
  • Assistance with graphics design on underwriting infographics and presentations
  • Review of low-risk exposure contracts and providing of contractual risk transfer advice to business units
  • Lead the administration of enterprise-wide surety and surety bond requirements
  • Liaise with broking community as required
  • Review of insurance policy wordings to ensure alignment with quoted terms
  • Assist in gathering, compiling, coordinating, and preparing insurance underwriting submissions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education and/or a certificate in insurance, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required;
  • Adaptable and able to learn new systems and processes;
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of the team including supporting others, as required;
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to find solutions that meet varying needs;
  • Superior organization skills with the ability to build, maintain and manage electronic files and databases

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Insurance Risk management
  • Effective communicator; can review and advise on insurance policies and contracts
  • Proven ability to deal with confidential information and materials;
