The Market Implementation team is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our team. The AESO is mandated to design and operate electricity markets to deliver the safe, reliable and economic operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System and to facilitate fair, efficient and openly competitive outcomes. The Markets team is responsible for design and implementation of electricity markets to fulfil this part of the AESO's mandate. As part of the Markets team, you will support the effective functioning of existing ISO market rules and participate in rule development and implementation efforts. You will work and collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders representing Markets. As a member of the Market Implementation team, you will also contribute to Market Design work enabling the transformation of the province's electricity sector.

Key aspects of the role:
Lead initiatives to contribute to the effective functioning of the existing energy and ancillary service markets, and contribute to the development of future markets. This includes responsibilities such as rule development, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and system enhancement/implementation.
Contribute to cross-functional initiatives led by the Markets team or other AESO departments.
Make informed decisions within the scope of accountabilities, escalating issues to leadership when necessary.
Support the development of regulatory filings and proceedings; may also serve as an AESO witness on Markets-related initiatives.
Oversee the effective implementation of IT system changes and AESO processes to support market-related initiatives or rule changes.
Update information documents to support Market rules.
Manage Market Authoritative Document Questions, Waivers and Variances, and ISO rule proposals.
Build and maintain stakeholder relationships in accordance with the AESO's Stakeholder Engagement Framework.
Mentor and support other analysts within the Markets team.
You have:
A post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering or relevant discipline.
8+ years of relevant related experience.
Strong knowledge of the electricity market framework in Alberta.
Previous experience in Markets, Operations, Energy Trading or similar would be an asset.
