About this opportunity:
Cenovus's Commodity Compliance team plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with global commodity trading regulations, oversight of Cenovus's Enterprise Trading Risk Management systems ("ETRMs"), and ownership and implementation of the Market Risk Management Framework ("MRM Framework" - Cenovus's governance structure for market risk associated with its physical and financial energy commodity trading activity). Reporting to the Senior Manager, Commodity Compliance, this position offers an exciting opportunity for a driven and collaborative individual to demonstrate their skills in commodity compliance, governance of market risk, solution-oriented problem solving across collaborator groups, project management, informal leadership and ETRMs to maintain and enhance Cenovus's risk management relating to its trading activities.
What you'll do:
Develop, execute and maintain compliance controls, systems administration and access, compliance training, and compliance reporting
Develop and maintain compliance plans, policies, procedures, and controls, and monitor adherence to these controls
Stay ahead of regulatory compliance requirements, industry trends and standard processes relating to commodity compliance and risk management, and facilitate changes as required
Support annual market risk management training and ad hoc education/guidance on the application of Cenovus's MRM Framework
Participate in reviews of new transactions and new products and analyze the impact on Cenovus's compliance
Manage projects that involve the operationalization of new commodity related business activities in Cenovus's ETRMs
Prepare and submit required reports and filings to regulators
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
8+ years of experience within a compliance related position
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience in compliance
Well-developed research skills and ability to apply such to the identification of regulatory changes and emerging trends in commodity risk management
Experience in the development, implementation and oversight of internal processes and governance frameworks
Project management experience, with a focus on operationalizing new business in systems of record and ensuring fulsome identification and resolution of risks by broad collaborator groups
Knowledge and experience in Front, Middle, and Back offices within the oil & gas industry
Compliance experience in financial and physical commodities' trading
Knowledge of ETRM systems and associated elements of the transaction lifecycle
Technical skills to enable process automations/enhancements, reporting, monitoring, visualizations
