About this opportunity:
Cenovus is currently looking for a Senior Investment Appraisal Portfolio Management Analyst to join their team based in our Calgary office.
In this role, you will focus on financial modelling & analysis as well as strategic evaluation of capital projects, business & transportation commitments, GHG and acquisition and divestiture (A&D) opportunities spanning the entire Cenovus portfolio. You will also support portfolio management and corporate strategic decision making to help shape the future of Cenovus.
What you'll do:
Build and/or maintain financial models (as required) to evaluate various capital projects, business commitments & transportation commitments, GHG and A&D opportunities spanning the entire Cenovus portfolio
Help lead the coordination of opportunity memos required for Opportunity approvals by the Cenovus Investment Committee as part of the Capital Management Process
Maintain company-wide corporate model to support screening, financial evaluation, trade-offs and strategic rationale for the purpose of optimizing the Cenovus asset portfolio, including A&D and GHG reduction opportunities
Perform scenario and corporate impact analysis to inform strategic decision making by illustrating the impact of commodity prices, government policy, and/or various asset development plans
Generate materials and analysis to support the Strategy and A&D teams for presentation to Cenovus's senior leadership committee's including the Operations Management Team, Commercial Management Team, Corporate Committee and Board
Collaborate on ad-hoc analytical support to various teams across Cenovus
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
8+ years' experience related to financial analysis preferably in the oil and gas industry
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related field with a recognized accreditation (CFA/APEGA/CPA etc.)
Excellent financial modelling skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to design/build economic models
Prior experience as well as a deep understanding of equity capital markets and the oil and gas industry, specifically for integrated oil and gas producers, is preferred
Strong knowledge of Cenovus's portfolio and our peers is considered an asset
Proven ability to analyze data and provide insightful analysis that illustrates critical business drivers and develop appropriate solutions
Able to solve problems that require an approach developed from diverse alternatives and precedents
Able to work well independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team to achieve specified objectives without clear instructions for methodology
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop clear, concise and insightful communications tailored to specific audiences
