About the role
We're looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our growing Large Commercial Surety team!
What you'll do here:
Obtain and analyze underwriting data, perform financial analysis and apply critical thinking on underwriting decisions and client relationship issues.
Analyze financial position of current and new developer clients.
Provide recommendations to management on developer surety bond support to provide to existing and prospective developer clients.
Negotiate specific terms and conditions for issuing Developer Surety bonds to clients.
Monitor the development projects and exposures.
Develop new business through networking/marketing with brokers, clients, developers, consultants, lawyers, and other market participants.
Gain and expand upon industry knowledge to improve underwriting decisions.
Represent Intact at various developer associations and industry-related functions.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance
3 to 5 years of developer surety or commercial lending experience, and/or experience in a commercial insurance underwriting or brokerage capacity.
Solid understanding of financial statements
Demonstrated capability for outstanding customer service
Proven track record for quick, accurate problem resolution
Strong analytical and research skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Can handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Can work independently and collaborate with co-workers in a team setting
Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
