Hybrid Work:
This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.

Reporting to the Director, Audit & Advisory Services (AAS), the Sr Internal IT Auditor is responsible for performing a detailed evaluation of WestJet Group's internal controls, business processes and technologies. The position is also responsible for identifying risks and gaps, making recommendations for remediation, and communicating results to management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead compliance and operational audits for technology-related risk areas, including preparing work programs and test procedures, executing the audit and preparing audit reports for presentation to senior leadership.
  • Lead the internal control over financial reporting assessments (C-SOx), including planning, testing and reporting for IT General Controls and Application Controls.
  • Analyze IT systems and processes for various systems and infrastructure components to identify risks and recommend improvements.
  • Interpret and communicate audit findings, providing actionable recommendations to management that add value and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with management to develop objective risk mitigation strategies, provide value-add consulting services, and drive process improvements and implementation of best practices across the WestJet Group.
  • Develop and maintain effective business partner relationships (internal and external) across the WestJet Group
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior auditors, and support the development of auditing skills and knowledge.
  • Be an active member of the AAS team; willing to brainstorm issues, complete ad-hoc requests, and work collaboratively with other members of the audit team to complete audit assignments.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, Business/Commerce or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in technology, operations, business process auditing, risk management, or technology governance and compliance, either in public practice or internal audit settings. Big 4 experience is an asset.
  • Professional certifications such as CISA, CIA, CISM, or CISSP.
  • Extensive experience in conducting IT General Controls and Application Controls testing as part of ICFR/SOX requirements.
  • Experience in performing cybersecurity audits based on best practices and frameworks (e.g., NIST).
  • Strong technical expertise in a variety of technologies, including ERP systems, databases, operating systems, networks, and cloud technologies.
