About the role
We’re looking for Underwriter I to join our growing team!
As an Underwriter I your work will have a big impact on our Commercial Auto line of business. People will count on you to underwrite commercial auto insurance risks and make decisions every day that contribute to profitable growth. You will be customer-focused in everything you do, educating the broker and looking for ways to improve the customer experience. With a strong sales ability, you will develop profitable business relationships with brokers and will be effective in upsell and cross-sell activities.
This position is hybrid with a minimum of 2 days a week required in office.
What you'll do here:
Develop long-term and meaningful relationships with brokers by providing legendary service and participating in broker visits, field underwriting, insurance industry functions, and marketing events
Assess and evaluate risks, analyzing requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes and recommend innovative solutions
Help shape the future of Commercial Auto by providing creative solutions on process or workflow improvements to increase efficiencies and elevate best practices
Provide pricing, profitability and coverage analysis to support regional sales and retention initiatives
Help to ensure that the regional underwriting service, production and profitability levels are achieved
What you bring to the table:
Minimum of 2 years of insurance experience
Commercial Auto experience is an asset
Drive change by challenging the status quo, exhibiting a 'can do' attitude and energizing others
Self-drive, results-focused with a global approach when making decisions
Strong ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic environment
Superior organization and demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Manage work efficiently
Exemplary and proactive customer service skills to identify needs, effectively negotiate, and provide tailored solutions to brokers
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with challenging conversations
Proficient in leveraging various types of technology to collaborate with peers
Post secondary education in Insurance and Risk Management or relatable field is an asset
Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation either completed or in progress is an asset
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
