We're seeking a visionary leader with exceptional business acumen and team development skills to join NAIT's newly developed Academic Quality and Operational Excellence (AQOE) team as the Director, Office of Apprenticeship (O-APPR). In this dynamic role, you'll shape the future of apprenticeship training at NAIT and and across Alberta by fostering partnerships, driving operational excellence, and encouraging meaningful collaboration. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Academic Quality and Operational Excellence, this leader will be an integral member of the AQOE senior leadership team.


What You'll Do:

As Director-Office of Apprenticeship, you will:

  • Lead apprenticeship strategy and operations: Develop and implement innovative strategies to coordinate apprenticeship training across NAIT's schools and 26 registered programs.
  • Foster partnerships: Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with external stakeholders, other apprenticeship training providers, and industry leaders to enhance apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Optimize business processes: Drive operational excellence through efficient management of human, financial, and capital resources while ensuring budgetary oversight.
  • Oversee apprenticeship program centralized administration: Manage student-facing apprenticeship coordination, sponsorship programs, and strategic enrolment seat management, ensuring a seamless experience for students and industry partners.
  • Direct ILM development: Lead the team responsible for producing and selling Individual Learning Modules (ILMs) that support registered apprenticeship programs across Alberta and Canada.

What We're Looking For:

  • Team leadership: Ability to guide, motivate and managing a team to achieve goals through strong communication, decision-making, and collaboration to meet objectives and key results.
  • Business leadership: Proven business acumen with demonstrated experience in process improvement, operational efficiency, and team development.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to develop and execute plans that align with NAIT's goals and meet external apprenticeship outcomes.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship: Comprehensive understanding of apprenticeship structures, policies, and procedures, both provincially and nationally.
  • Collaboration and agility: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and responsiveness to change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement strategies for consistent operational practices.
  • Build and nurture external partnerships and projects.
  • Lead agile teams that support the apprenticeship programs.
  • Oversee resource management, including human, financial, and capital.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Leadership experience: Proven track record of leading successful teams and managing complex operations.
  • Business acumen: Strong knowledge of process improvement, budget management, and strategic planning.
  • Apprenticeship expertise: In-depth understanding of apprenticeship programming and related policies.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $109,064.28 - $144,494.46 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
