JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director of Finance and serving as the leader of the Medicentres Finance Team, the Controller will lead a multi-provincial team, and will be responsible for contributing to the company's growth through business support, team management, and leadership.

They will be responsible for the financial management of, and reporting for, the organization, as well as leadership of the finance team (including payroll, AP/AR, and analytics). They will be expected to work collaboratively to help drive strategic projects with cross-functional teams, and will serve as a member of the Medicentres Leadership Team.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting:

  • Manages monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting of internal financial information, including cash management, while maintaining timelines and meeting targets.
  • Maintains monthly reporting calendar for the Finance Team while maintaining deadlines.
  • Supports financial reporting / analysis for contract negotiations and other business requirements. Works with operations, physician services, IT, HR, and Marketing to develop financial reporting and support adherence to process.
  • Tracks and reports on goals of the organization and Finance team.
  • Assists in the preparation of forecasts for Executive Management use and decision making, including assessing viability of investments and projects.

Project Management:

  • Liaises with other departments on cross functional process improvements and implementations.
  • Actively participates in the strategic planning process while communicating with the Director of Finance, General Manager, and ELNA Senior Executives (including the CFO).
  • Supports, develops and executes Finance strategic projects in the organization.
  • Supports company budget preparation.

Team Leadership:

  • Communicates company initiatives and values to direct and indirect reports.
  • Provides training and support to members of the finance team.
  • Leads in coaching and performance management of the finance team.
  • Supports in team engagement initiatives within the finance team.

Organizational Leadership:

  • Provides support to all levels of the business, while maintaining a customer service focus.
    • Builds and manages a team to coordinate supporting activities across the organization.
  • Networks and acts as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders (CMs, MDs, etc.)
  • Internally promotes Medicentres services to stakeholders and identifies potential new revenue streams.
  • Supports and lives the values of the business, including corporate culture and team engagement.
  • Serves as a member of the Medicentres Leadership team.

Administrative Duties:

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of accounting, payroll, medical billing, clinic reporting, third party receivables and accounts payable.

The Manager - Finance will also be responsible for supporting other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant work experience in managing and leading mid-sized teams, including at least 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory/management role in a comparably-sized company
    • Experience working in or with private/public healthcare organizations/clinics an asset
  • Familiarity and comfort working with contractual agreements.
  • Demonstrate strong internal management and leadership skills, including performance management and development of staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a hybrid team (virtual and in person).
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting reporting/project deadlines and targets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly initiate and develop new relationships.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is an asset.
  • Be able to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Be able to work independently and take full ownership of activities.

Education/ Certifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting required.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingualism (English / French) an asset
