Mission

The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms. Construction began in 2021. Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colas and Parsons. We are looking for an experienced Systems Superintendent to play transverse role between the Traction Power Supply, Comms and Signalling installation Works. The successful candidate ensures constructability of the designs, fostering and advises on practical resolution of interfaces between these products, while also suggesting optimized and cost-effective sequences of work between those activities and Civil with a particular focus on planning the works at each intersection and each zone interfacing with Stage 1 guideway. They will contribute to the field coordination and Project scheduling and 3-week lookahead prioritization/mitigation in support to the segment/package managers and provide support to segment/package managers in procuring selected products composing the guideway. There may be delegation to managing portions of the guideway works.

Responsibilities

• Perform constructability reviews on design packages (Traction Power Supply, Comms, Signalling) / propose optimizations / verify cable lists and suitability of cable pathways
• Prepare scope of Installation packages, review/improve installation specs, finalize installation scope split
• Recommend practical resolution of interfaces between Traction Power Supply, Comms, Signalling, including interface with ductbank, cableways and MEP
• Follow-up subcontractors site activities:
o adherence to safety requirements plans and procedures,
o timely execution,
o to the appropriate level of quality
• Coordinate the Works for these packages (Traction Power Supply, Comms, Signalling between each other and with those in interface)
• Suggest optimized and cost-effective sequences of work between these Systems activities and buildings / civil roadway / duct bank activities. Ensure that these sequences once approved, are reflected in the P6 schedules and Tilos linear program
• Chair coordination meetings with subcontractors and relevant MIP package managers
• Consolidate the 3-week lookahead schedules from Subcontractors, review and suggest changes in priorities and/or mitigations as required
• Consolidate site Progress reports
• Review Subcontractor Work Method Statement documents and ITP
• Contribute to resolution of Subcontractors NCR in liaison with Quality team
• Manage with Designer the Subcontractors Field Change Requests
• Organize with Subcontractor, Quality department and Package managers the official (Independent Certifier and Authorities site visits, ITP-Inspections, closeout visits etc)
• Support the package managers to re-estimate the quantities of material required for performing the subcontracts


In the first 6 months, the Systems Superintendent will also work with the buildings Manager and team for the Systems aspect within Facilities to:
• Support System/Facility Integration Design
• Resolve interfaces and scope clarifications,
• Contribute to Constructability reviews.

Requirements

• Excellent written, verbal, communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of union and non-union Work
• PMP: a plus
• Undergraduate degree in engineering, with a preference for Communications or Electrical engineering.
• Candidate must have at least 5+ years work experience with evidence of leadership on at least 2 large projects for Systems design and construction
• Technical knowledge of Power and Communications and related interfaces,
• Experience in coordinating works between various site construction managers
• Sufficient Project management experience including development of construction plans and schedules
