This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Burnaby, BC.

THE OPPORTUNITIES

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for completing and enhancing our monthly, quarterly, and yearly activities of the Corporate Accounting department to ensure quality and accuracy of accounting records and financial reports for our Canadian and US operating and corporate entities. Requires the understanding of full cycle accounting, consolidation, intercompany transactions, and taxes.

The Senior Accountant will also lead and execute various accounting tasks for the Finance department for our Canadian and US finance entities, to ensure compliance in accordance with accounting policies and financial reporting standards. Our finance department is in the business of financing and leasing trucks and heavy equipment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate accounting:

  • Prepare, review, analyze and take full ownership for financial statements and address inquiries and issues with Regional Accounting Managers, department heads, and other accounting staff.
  • Collaborate and work with operational managers to resolve and reconcile financial information including branch results, inventory, labor costs, and analyze variances.
  • Prepare quarter-end and year-end financial statements.
  • Prepare account analyses, working papers, supporting documents audit.
  • Assist in accounting setups and data conversion during acquisitions and opening of new stores and dealerships.
  • Understand all cycles of the group’s financial reporting and addressing all routine and non-routine transactions that arise.
  • Actively search for efficiencies in their role, and the roles impacted by their responsibilities.
  • Analyzes and interprets operations, ERP, and accounting system to identify and implement improvements and efficiencies in our departments.
  • Demonstrates leadership by supervising staff and various departments to ensure the correct accounting and processes are followed including guiding in the instruction and review of junior staff.
  • Interprets financial data to guide decision-making and advises on accounting matters, ensuring compliance with industry standards and departmental dynamics.

Finance accounting:

  • Take ownership of the financial reporting of the finance entities including internal and external reporting requirements, processes, and variance analysis
  • Responsible for data integrity and integration between the accounting and finance systems.
  • Supervise and instruct members of the finance and accounting team.
  • Prepare working papers and supporting documents for external audits.
  • Effectively liaise between the finance and accounting departments and understand their needs.
  • Identifying new processes and recommending improvements to the department and its function within the overall company from a financial reporting perspective.
  • Communicate effectively and concisely with third parties including external auditors, partners, and banks.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting required
  • Accounting designation (CPA) preferred
  • At least 4 years related experience
  • Strong business ethics and sense of personal responsibility with a professional approach always

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Capable of building relationships with stakeholders within the company and other team members
  • Detailed oriented

PAY RANGE

The salary range for this role is between $85,000 - $100,000, based on experience.
