About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Corporate Operations at the BCLDB includes our Corporate Loss Prevention, Real Estate departments and Corporate Audit. Real Estate manages all activities related to the leasing, construction, renovation, and facilities management of all new and existing LDB facilities, included head office, distribution centres, and all BC Liquor and BC Cannabis retail locations. The Corporate Loss Prevention department ensures the security of all BCLDB assets through physical security management as well as an investigative team. Corporate Audit strives to be a strategic partner in the BCLDB by providing advisory, risk and assurance services.

About this role:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Audit, the Senior Corporate Auditor is responsible for conducting comprehensive audits to ensure the integrity of the LDB's financial, operational and information system-related internal controls. The Senior Auditor also contributes to the development of audit plans, provides advice and guidance regarding all aspects of internal controls, and complies with audit policy guidelines. To achieve objectives, the position works with a wide network of internal and external contacts.

A criminal record check and valid BC Driver's license is required.

Successful candidates will be required to have the ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Canadian professional accounting designation: (i.e., chartered professional accountant (CPA) or IT Auditing designation (i.e., certified information systems auditor(CISA); or auditing designation (i.e., certified internal auditor (CIA). Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Association.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of recent related experience*

OR

  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered; i.e., Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certification with a minimum of (3) three years of recent, related experience*

Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last four years and include the following:

  • Experience leading and conducting internal or external audits related to compliance, risk management, assurance and/or internal controls.

Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following:

  • Project management professional certification (i.e., PMP) and/or experience conducting project assurance reviews.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner designation (i.e., CFE) and/or experience conducting fraud audits.
  • Experience in the beverage alcohol industry or a similar large supply chain environment.
  • IT audit experience.
