JOB OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the MRO Divisional Controller and is responsible for managing completion of month-end close, preparing monthly account reconciliations to trial balance, and assists with preparation of a complex set of financial statements and budget to actual results with KPI's for the KF Aerospace MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) division. This role will work closely with the MRO Controller, Business Systems Financial Controller and the MRO Billing Manager.

This is a "roll up your sleeves" position, which includes processing of transactions in our ERP system, oversight of coding by AP and AR staff, and preparing a wide variety of reconciliations for several accounts and business units. It includes ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and maintaining support for our monthly lead sheets and for our annual public audit. The role will also assist with annual Budget preparation, Monthly Inventory and WIP reconciliation, Payroll import, as well as other general accounting duties.

This role is based 100% on-site in Kelowna, B.C.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the following areas:


Key Performance Metrics:

  • Review GL data for project and business unit results, ensuring coding is accurate
  • Input data into KPI spreadsheets

Month end Financial Statement Processes

  • Coordinate with other employees to ensure timely completion of the month end close and elimination entries where required
  • Preparation of month end accruals, working papers and variance analysis
  • Various ad hoc reporting, analysis

Financial Statements and Operating Reports

  • Assist the MRO Divisional Controller to prepare Budget to Actual and departmental reports; generated on time, accurately and completely according to internal policy and ASPE
  • Assistance with annual audits; coordinating the organization of data and reconciliations to provide to the auditors

Budget Models

  • Assist the MRO Divisional Controller with budget modeling (including data collection from other departments / stakeholders).

Cost Awareness and Analysis

  • Update operations staff on trends and cost patterns in the business

Liaison with the other Finance Controllers

  • Ensure corporate processes and rules are appropriately executed in the ERP system
  • Ensure segregation of internal controls are maintained

Other:

  • Stats Canada reporting.
  • Other duties and accounting support as requested.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE or SKILLS

  • Completion of CPA or a recognized accounting degree and pursing a CPA designation is preferred
  • Min 5 years practical experience, with 2+ years of public accounting or private multi-company, multi-currency experience
  • Project or job costing experience would be an asset
  • Inventory and Work in Progress accounting experience would be an asset
  • Experience ERP software and Excel based report writing software would be an asset
  • Advanced excel skills and/or PBI or Power Query experience would be an asset

SALARY

The wage band is KF level 10, $77,000-$96,000 annually. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
