Position AutoCAD and Systems Support Engineer, Junior

Department Information Technology

Location Richmond, BC, Canada

Reports to IT Engineering Systems Manager


Purpose:


The IT Engineering Systems Team's mandate is to develop and implement structured but flexible processes and software solutions to support a wide variety of multidisciplinary engineering, design, data, and configuration management problems associated with waterpark design and manufacturing. These solutions bring a high degree of visibility, accountability, and control to corporate engineering and its integration with manufacturing and business processes.

The Junior AutoCAD and Systems Support Engineer is responsible for the continuous availability of the engineering systems and troubleshooting user issues. Learning, maintaining, and customizing the various engineering systems is a key job function.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical support, including troubleshooting and training assistance for users of the engineering systems.
  • Support and improve production systems through upgrades and patches to minimize cost and risk and maximize uptime and performance.
  • Master AutoCAD and custom applications to support customers with training and troubleshooting.
  • Liaise with software authors (CAD and PLM providers) to address bugs, functionality deficiencies, and enhancement requests.
  • Author and maintain documentation for processes and implemented solutions.
  • Develop software following existing IT procedures and standards along with industry best practices for code development, source code management, incident tracking and change control.
  • Execute responsibilities in a safe, professional manner in accordance with the law and accepted ethical standards.
  • Respect for people through positive communication, consideration, and cooperation.
  • Define and align goals with departmental goals then ensure regular performance feedback is completed through formal performance reviews every four months.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Completion of an engineering degree from a recognized university. Structural, civil, or mechanical preferred.
  • Eligible for registration as an EIT or P.Eng. with EGBC.
  • Solid foundation in engineering principles and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD with an understanding of best practices. SolidWorks and similar parametric CAD software experience would be considered an asset.
  • Software development and customization experience using VB, C#, .NET\WPF\MVVM, and SQL would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with the integration of manufacturing, enterprise resource management, or BIM systems would be considered an asset.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.
