THE OPPORTUNITY


Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Accounting Manager to join a well-established team of accounting professionals in our Vancouver, BC office location.


This position will report to the Controller and will be responsible for all areas that relate financial reporting, developing and maintain accounting procedures, practices, and principles to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting the Controller with workflow process improvement and pursuing special projects.
  • Working with direct reports to determine objectives and goals for each year and advising on their progress to enhance staff professional development.
  • Handling employee issues that relate to absenteeism, staff performance, and staff conflict.
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of features and procedures to enhance the accounting department’s workflow.
  • Making sure members of the finance team meet all financial reporting deadlines.
  • Responding to inquiries from the Controller and other high-level Managers.
  • Training and advising new and existing employees of non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Monitoring and analyzing the financial department to develop more efficient procedures and proper use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Adheres to required internal quality standards, technical regulations, and standards/best practices.
  • Takes part in the performance management and development process to set, monitor, and complete work goals, ensuring fulfillment of objectives in a timely fashion.
  • Other related duties as required or assigned in this team-oriented environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Proven work experience as an Accounting Manager or a similar role within Environmental or Consulting business.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software, such as Netsuite, or similar systems. Experience with property management software is a must.
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

SCHEDULE


This position is a full-time, permanent position.


Triton promotes and encourages a collaborative working team culture; hence a hybrid work schedule is preferred (remote and coming into the office). However, there could be potential to make the schedule more flexible, including having a more remote working schedule.


COMPENSATION


The pay range for this role is: $110,000 – $130,000


The compensation is dependent upon candidate experience and qualifications.
