What will your typical day look like?

As a Data Privacy Governance and Compliance specialist, you will be at the forefront of Deloitte's mission to ensure data privacy and protection. Your day will revolve around designing, developing, and implementing privacy governance and operating models that meet our complex clients' privacy requirements. You will be responsible for undertaking privacy gap assessments, privacy impact assessments, designing and implementing privacy programs, integrating into client processes, and enhancing client standards and controls. Your expertise in privacy tools and will be vital as you navigate through tasks in a fast-paced, agile environment.

About the team

Our Digital Privacy and Trust team, part of Deloitte Canada's Technology and Transformation service line, is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to ensuring the privacy and safety of our clients' data. We work with a diverse range of technologies and tools to design and implement data privacy programs and solutions. We value collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation. Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement privacy program governance and operating models to ensure privacy policies are correctly implemented. The implementations should advance compliance with legal forms of data use as well as support business use of data.
• Performs regular privacy assessments of operational processes, identifying, and mitigating risks across the company through effective tools, training and guidance. Support clients in developing their privacy roadmaps based on the assessment outcome.
• Undertake Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for complex technology transformations and high-risk processes.
• Draft data privacy protocols in line with regulatory requirements and leading practices.
• Work to align advanced technologies and Privacy by Design principles from the first stages of development and ensure that the data use meets established regulatory compliance needs.
• Collaborate with data product development teams creating new uses of data that employ privacy features.
• Interact with client’s privacy program managers, product development teams, legal, compliance, governance and data protection teams on an ongoing basis.
• Analyze, design and program enhancements for projects to help mitigate privacy vulnerabilities and prevent potential future privacy risks.
• Communicate program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to key stakeholders.

You are someone with:

Knowledge and Skills:
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), ability to influence without authority.
• Ability to balance risks in ambiguous and complex situations.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, in particular in leading or contributing to global and multi-functional teams.
• Experience implementing, or designing privacy processes, policies, standards, controls and/or programs.
• Experience performing compliance assessments, gap assessments and rationalized frameworks.
• Good understanding cybersecurity principles and data protection.

Qualifications:
• BS or MS degree in a related field of study
• Privacy accreditation such as CIPP, CIPT or CIPM.
• In depth knowledge of privacy laws & regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, PIPEDA).
• Experience implementing privacy programs, process improvement, standards and controls.
• Exposure to any privacy automation solution a plus (Onetrust, BigID, Ketch etc.)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate designs, proposals, and results; and negotiate options at management levels
• 3-4 years' experience in privacy / data protection or a graduate degree or concentration in privacy engineering

The salary range for this position is $57,000 - $98,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
