Our corporate office located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, BC has an opportunity for a CORPORATE ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Our Vancouver office is looking for an experienced finance professional to lead our Canadian corporate accounting team. You will be responsible for training and developing the Canadian corporate accounting team, including any CPA students, when applicable.
You will partner with the U.S. corporate accounting manager in Memphis, Tennessee, ensuring consistency and best practices are applied. Travel between offices may be required. Our corporate offices are expected to work as a single service center with the ability to shift work between offices during peak periods or as part of employee development. We believe in continuous employee development and have a subject matter expert ("SME") approach for our corporate accounting teams. Our corporate accountants have the opportunity to master one area of corporate accounting and then move to develop expertise in another subject area of finance and accounting. The result is a well-rounded professional experience that is promotable to other roles within finance.
You will have experience with SOX internal control processes and design. You will work with our internal audit department to assess our process flows and ensure they are appropriately designed, documented and implemented. You will ensure the team follows our accounting policies and procedures and will have a strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
You will approve journal entries prepared by your team and accounts payable invoices for the finance department and general office purchases. You will also review and approve monthly account reconciliations, variance analysis, and the corporate budget, ensuring the accuracy of results. This includes partnering with managers of various corporate departments to explain budget-to-actual differences and assist with the corporate budget and forecast process. We are a cost-conscious company and welcome ideas to save time or money.
We are looking for a self-starter, creative problem solver, and strong communicator who thrives on new challenges and has an achievement-oriented mindset. You will be keenly interested in continuous improvement and bringing innovation and automation to the financial process, and you will have strong analytical skills and be detail-oriented.
