What is the opportunity?

The Private Banking Credit Structures team delivers on the RBC Private Banking promise of delivering a "Black Card Experience" by providing superior client service, innovative credit solutions and individualized financial advice to high net worth clients. This involves partnering with members of Private Banking and other platforms within RBC Financial Group.

Based in British Columbia this position is responsible for leading the credit structures team and business within Private Banking's downtown Vancouver market and Langley location. The credit structures team works with private bankers and is responsible for the delivery of customized credit solutions to our high net worth customers.

What will you do?

  • As Regional Director, Credit Structures, you will lead a highly professional credit specialist team capable of delivering high quality innovative credit advice and solutions to our high net worth customers, including providing ongoing coaching and the development of a team of credit specialists ensuring a high level of employee capability and employee engagement
  • Ensure high quality of service in the delivery of credit solutions - flexible solutions reflective of customer needs and financial wherewithal, turnaround, etc.
  • Developing creative and customized credit structures tailored to the needs and financial position of the high net worth customer base
  • Successfully leveraging and partnering with other areas of expertise within the bank to develop comprehensive solutions (i.e. business markets, Capital Markets, Risk Management)
  • Acting as a key member of the senior management team within Canadian Private Banking, you will work within a strategic market segment with strong growth opportunities and have the opportunity to manage a diverse and growing team, while working with high net worth customers and their financial advisors
  • Responsible for the delivery of credit solutions and products to the high net worth customer base including: Standard retail product (e.g. mortgages, lines of credit, etc.), secured investment lines, structured transactions, personal holding and investment companies
  • Develop and implement appropriate lending strategies / business plans based on local market opportunities
  • Directing and working with new business management, through active coaching to ensure new business opportunities are identified and actively managed, appropriate resources allocated, quality solutions delivered, turnaround standards delivered

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • The successful candidate will have proven or identified leadership potential, have the ability to coach and develop people, bring a strong business development and client focus, partner effectively, and have a sound understanding of credit
  • Strong lending /credit experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to partner / communicate effectively.
  • Ability to manage tight timelines, competing priorities, multiple responsibilities.
  • Business growth mindset required, creatively working to structure credit solutions

Nice to have

  • Strong negotiation skills, decisiveness, results orientated
  • Commercial Banking background is an asset
  • Post Graduate/MBA University degree
