What is the opportunity?

RBC is seeking to build out a Scanning team out in Vancouver, with a SecOps Developer/Analyst for our Scanning Operations team! This is a great opportunity to join a global team at RBC, to help us navigate through increasing complexity of cyber threats while growing RBC's business safely. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer or Developer who wants to step further into Cybersecurity, leveraging your experience managing and deploying through CI/CD and networking. This role will be instrumental to contribute to our Scanning team to ensure we have our eyes and ears on all of our platforms, from on-prem, private and public clouds utilizing the best tools of the trade.

What will you be doing?

  • Conduct strategic assessments on systems and networks, and provides tactical analyses and suggestions for network operation.
  • Provides support to incident response and security operation teams, such as vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection and performing digital forensic tasks
  • Maintain and manage vulnerability scanning security tools in various deployment patterns including Linux VMs, Docker Containers, Kubernetes Clusters and Infrastructure as Code
  • Manage Infrastructure-As-Codebuilt in Python/YAML, controlled in GitHub and deployed with Jenkins in cloud native environments.
  • Lead/Co-lead on-going enhancements to our Vulnerability Scanning services.
  • Further security integration and collaboration with our core DevOps CI/CD Pipeline which enables AppDev teams to deliver exceptional & secure client experiences with speed, quality and efficiency.
  • Participate in tracking and resolving technical issues while providing ongoing support to the vulnerability scanning processes & operations.
  • Introduce further cross-collaboration integrations to our scanning tools such as Log Management (Splunk, Datadog, Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus), Tableau Reporting, ServiceNow CMDB, Slack & Email notifications!
  • Decipher Vulnerability scan results, direct Developers on remediation and investigate False Positive Claims
  • Stay informed and in-the-know on emerging Cyber Security threats & vulnerabilities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Experience in DevOps, with strong Python/Java or any other programming skills; experience making API Calls, using GitHub and Jenkins
  • Hands on experience with Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies including: Containers, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, Code Functions (Lambda)
  • Experience with DevOps CI/CD Pipeline development and workflow: Build, Ship, Run
  • Understanding of SBOM Software Bill of Materials, Software Dependencies and Transitive Dependencies
  • Knowledge of Vulnerability Intelligence feed integrations (Kenna, Recorded Future)
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate in technical and non-technical scenarios
  • Innovative mindset to automate tasks and improve processes
  • Problem-solving ability to analyze and prioritize work efforts to meet business objectives in a secure and risk-based approach
  • Passion and curiosity for cybersecurity
  • Available for escalated on-call support and deployment issues as required

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with vulnerability management processes and scanning products (such as NexusIQ, Checkmarx, Sonarqube, Aqua, NexPloit)
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence and working in an agile environment
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift or PCF
  • Strong understanding of SAST, DAST, IAST & Open Source scanning tools and techniques
  • Knowledge in OWASP Top 10, MITRE ATT&CK Framework, Pen Testing workflows
  • Security or Cloud related Certifications attained or in progress (eg. CISSP, CCSP, GIAC GCSA, GEVA, GWEB, Azure, AWS)
