Reporting to the Lead, Global Consolidation, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing the monthly consolidation and reporting of Teck's exploration and development projects. This outstanding candidate will lead all aspects of the OneStream system upload process and review for all exploration and development entities, preparing top-sided consolidation journals, working papers, legal entity financial statements and management reporting! This motivated candidate will further contribute to the reporting process by preparing assigned reports and schedules and statement notes for the external financial statements.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Review, analyze, and consolidate the company's exploration and development projects results. This will include reviewing monthly financial submissions by entities into OneStream and follow-up on any issues that may arise
  • Prepare consolidation journal entries and working papers
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly schedules for the financial booklet distributed to senior management
  • Prepare quarterly and annual notes to the consolidated financial statements as assigned
  • Collect information for external reporting for assigned operations in reports in accordance with the reporting deadlines
  • Support tax department's preparation of corporate tax returns and tax audits by providing information as requested
  • Formulate non-consolidated legal entity statements of companies for tax filings
  • Ensure all SOX procedure and controls are in place
  • Prepare audit working papers for interim and year-end audits; liaise with auditors

Qualifications

  • CPA designation with 3 to 5 years of accounting experience working for a large company in the accounting department (preferably as part of the corporate accounting function)

  • Experience with financial and management reporting

  • SOX and internal control environment experience

  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver on tight deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and inventively with minimal supervision

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Strong analytical and computer skills, with sophisticated spreadsheet skills

  • Experience with premier ERP and consolidation systems, and other financial reporting software

Salary Range: $91,000 - $113,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
