Demonstrate a thorough understanding of tax concepts and application of tax knowledge related to U.S. Corporate Federal and State income tax compliance, U.S. income tax provision review and preparation.
Analyze clients' financial records and prepare and review U.S. corporate and partnership income tax returns for multinational clients and U.S. income tax provisions for public and private companies (e.g. Form 1120, 1065, 1040, etc.).
Lead the preparation of U.S. estimated tax calculations and coordinate their payments on a quarterly basis.
Manage the preparation of U.S. state/city Business & Occupancy tax returns, Gross Receipts tax returns, Corporate Activity Tax returns and other indirect tax returns, as required.
Conduct tax research at U.S. federal and state levels and thoroughly analyze U.S. cross-border tax issues and income tax treaty implications.
Research client issues that arise from U.S. tax compliance or planning work, such as the effects of various tax treaty provisions, including withholding tax liability on the taxpayers (capital gains, dividends, business profits, etc.).
Research and follow-up on various tax issues, and effective communication of tax matters to the accounting and finance team.
Deliver industry and technical expertise relating to complex tax and assurance issues through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and high-quality deliverables.
Assist with tax planning, documenting research, and analysis on various tax issues, including federal and provincial income and other taxes.
Represent clients in communicating with the IRS and state-local tax authorities regarding their U.S. tax issues.
Calculation of U.S. financial investment tax credit, AMT, R&D expenditures, bonus & MACRS depreciations, and asset segregation study.
Perform U.S. Earnings & Profit calculation.
Advice on U.S sales, use and excise tax compliance and consulting.
Advice on U.S. / Canada business financing tax structure and cross-border transactions.
Qualifications:
A college diploma in accounting.
Relevant experience as an Accountant, including preparing and filing U.S. tax returns.
Knowledge of U.S. Corporate Federal and State income tax compliance.
Excellent supervisory, analytical, and leadership ability.
A commitment to learning in a tax technology environment.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work with tight deadlines.
Process-oriented with excellent documentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use MS Office, Windows, QuickBooks, and tax software.
