Our Industrial Energy Engineer has an eye for the big picture. We're looking for a Industrial Energy Engineer, to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Our head office houses Tolko's corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in industrial process and in the operation, maintenance, and management of electrical and lighting systems or mechanical systems.
  • Registered Professional Engineer, Registered Engineering Technologist, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or other relevant technical education.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in writing detailed reports.
  • Capable of performing financial analysis.
  • Experience with using common computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.
  • Project management experience for small capital projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading through influence.

In this role, you will:

  • Support and explore innovative ideas that further Tolko's strategic plan.
  • Focus on safety by recognizing and eliminating all safety hazards and operating in a manner in accordance with work safe rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Coordinate a Sustainable Energy Management Program (SEMP) workshop and quarterly reporting of the program.
  • Maintain a database and an energy tracking and monitoring system for each facility/process.
  • Review existing energy study reports and perform high-level assessments to identify energy-saving opportunities.
  • Work closely with Business Unit Managers, Maintenance Superintendents, and divisional staff to identify, assess, prioritize, recommend and implement energy savings opportunities at business units.
  • Coordinate the sharing of best practices regarding energy efficiency across Tolko business units.
  • Prepare business cases to justify capital expenditure and complete applications to BC Hydro Power Smart Programs and other agencies.
  • Develop a strategy for the Measurement & Verification of energy-saving projects at a corporate level.
  • Foster a sustainable energy management culture at Tolko facilities.
  • Coordinate and assist with site inspections by BC Hydro.
