About the Role

As the Director of Equity, Justice & Belonging (DEJB), you will influence every aspect of school life—from curriculum and pedagogy to student well-being, policy development, and faculty professional learning. Reporting to the Deputy Head of School, you will collaborate with students, faculty, staff, parents, and leadership to drive initiatives that foster a truly inclusive, just, and culturally responsive learning environment.

This is not just a job—it's an opportunity to be a changemaker in education, ensuring that all members of our community see themselves reflected in our curriculum, spaces, and practices.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the School's Strategic Equity Vision - Develop and implement long-term strategies to ensure that equity, belonging, and justice are embedded across all aspects of school life.
  • Shape Culturally Responsive Teaching & Learning - Work with faculty to decolonize curricula, promote anti-racist and anti-oppressive pedagogies, and foster a learning environment that uplifts all identities and experiences.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous Rights Holders - Partner with the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) to respectfully integrate Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing into the fabric of our school.
  • Empower Student Voices - Support students in becoming changemakers and advocates, ensuring they have platforms for meaningful engagement in social justice initiatives.
  • Strengthen Faculty & Staff Capacity - Design and deliver equity-focused professional development to support educators in deepening their cultural competency and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Analyze Data & Drive Change - Conduct annual reviews of student demographics, wellbeing, and school culture to inform data-driven strategies that ensure equitable experiences for all.
  • Advise on Policy & Practice - Work with HR and Admissions to promote diverse hiring and student enrollment practices, ensuring our community reflects the world we seek to shape.
  • Celebrate & Honour Identity - Co-create inclusive celebrations, cultural events, and learning opportunities that affirm and uplift the voices of all students and families.

Who You Are

  • A passionate educator with deep experience in leading equity, inclusion, and social justice initiatives in a school setting.
  • A strategic thinker & doer - able to balance high-level vision with on-the-ground action to make meaningful change.
  • A confident facilitator - skilled at leading courageous conversations about race, gender, identity, privilege, and systemic change.
  • An advocate for Indigenous Rights & Reconciliation, or someone eager to humbly learn and engage with Indigenous perspectives.
  • A collaborative leader - excited to work across disciplines, departments, and divisions to influence policies, practices, and culture.
  • A lifelong learner - continuously seeking feedback, professional development, and growth opportunities to refine your leadership and impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (Master's or formal DEI certification is a strong asset).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading DEI initiatives in schools or education-focused organizations.
  • Strong understanding of anti-racism, reconciliation, trauma-informed practices, and culturally sustaining pedagogy.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, SOGI-inclusive education, and equity-driven school leadership is an asset.
  • Must be certified (or eligible) to teach in British Columbia.
