Director, Business Operations Remote - Americas
We're looking for a Director, Business Operations to join Shopify's leadership. In this role, you will partner with product and business leaders across Shopify to tackle some of the most important and ambiguous challenges related to scaling globally. To do this you will bring structured-thinking, data-driven insights and creativity to how we think about the challenges we face on a daily basis. You will ensure that there is ongoing ownership of recommended solutions, and you will strive to build low overhead systems that power Shopify for years to come. Directors at Shopify are not just prepared to, but are expected to get into the details of the work and partner side by side with all levels of the company to achieve great outcomes.
Relevant experience for the role:
Financial Acumen - Deep understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Ability to connect data and financials to operational recommendations.
Operational Excellence - Proven ability to design, implement, and optimize operational processes and systems. Strong track record of identifying and eliminating inefficient or unnecessary processes.
Leadership and Management - Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams. Experience increasing the talent level and impact of teams. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
Data & Insights - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail and a demonstrated track record of leveraging data to drive business impact
Extreme Ownership: A clear drive for action and ability to act without being told what to do. Own problems top to bottom, and see work through to completion.
Clear Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills that enable you to communicate complex ideas in a well structured, simple & easy-to-understand way for any audience (e.g., executives, engineers, or customer facing teams)
Organization & Planning: Independently plan and proactively organize, focusing on key priorities and adapting when required
Qualifications:
Extensive experience leading business operations at a high growth tech company
Demonstrated success in investment banking, management consulting, or startups
Experience synthesizing complex quantitative and qualitative data
Experience working on high urgency, high priority matters with executive level stakeholders that are sensitive in nature. Discretion is a must
Proven ability to create strategy and vision, as well as manage the execution of the work
Exceptional business judgment, analytical thinking, problem-solving and relationship-building skills
Ability to be a self-starter who thrives without regular oversight
Comfort navigating and making decisions at speed in the midst of ambiguity and frequent change
