About the role
We're excited to announce an incredible opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Manager of Commercial Lines in our Winnipeg, MB office!
As a Manager of Commercial Lines, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy and overseeing the management of our Commercial Lines underwriting department. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a high-performing team, driving engagement, and setting an exemplary standard for others to follow. In addition, you will cultivate and enhance relationships with our Brokers, maintaining a strong customer-centric approach while providing insightful solutions. Reporting directly to the Commercial Lines Director, you will significantly influence the development and growth of our Commercial Lines business.
This is a permanent role requiring a minimum of 3 days a week in our Winnipeg office and travel may be required.
What you'll do here:
Provide effective leadership by keeping your team informed about changes and results, and by sharing responsibility for overall performance, productivity, and engagement
Develop and execute leadership strategies, optimize organizational structure, and spearhead process/technology improvements
Build and maintain strong working relationships with Brokers through product presentations, visits, and addressing issues related to risk pricing, selection, and retention
Conduct staff performance evaluations, prepare formal Performance Reviews, and perform quality assessments to support staff development
Oversee staff training and development, set and monitor team goals and objectives, and manage systems such as CL Contact, Halcion, and CLPSS
Collaborate with other underwriting managers, corporate underwriting, and claims management on technical and administrative matters
Assist in preparing production reports and undertake other management responsibilities as delegated
What you bring to the table:
A minimum of 3 years of management experience and proven ability to build, lead and develop a successful team
Commercial P&C Underwriting experience working on a variety of commercial risks
A strong track record of fostering broker relationships and profitable business writing
Leading a team by consistently developing and mentoring Commercial Underwriters
Exceptional relationship management skills, including collaboration, communication, influencing, and negotiating abilities
Strong change management mindset with positive communication skills
Demonstrate our Leadership Success Factors on a daily basis
CIP or FCIP designation preferred
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
