Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Sales Specialist will support the business development team selling SunAdvantage product as well as may have direct interaction with clients.

The incumbent will be accountable for preparing key clients presentations or other documentations required by Account Executives, help with key client processes such as renewal, employee training, client installations for new contracts, etc... The incumbent will also review financial reports and provide key insights and recommendations to the SunAdvantage business development team on key areas of focus.

What will you do?

  • Depending upon the business focus - sales, client relationships, general reporting - the responsibilities will encompass some combination of the following: Business development (sales) and client relationship activities:
  • Prepares custom client-related PowerPoint presentations or other required documentations for Account Executives
  • Reviews the renewals plans and provides AE with key insights on options to help secure the renewals and flags the accounts considered at risk
  • Analyses and provides insights on monthly updates reports, dashboards and other key financial reports
  • Delivers Advisor training around key processes such PAS / PSS / etc.
  • Prepares and facilitates key employee meetings to inform on plan
  • Handles key service escalations on behalf of Account Executives and liaises with the key internal teams to ensure resolutions (ex.: service representatives, group benefits operations, plan and implementation teams)
  • Conducts check in calls about potential new business with Elite Advisors and key partners
  • Supports Business Development Director in analyzing and key reporting and analysis of: Results and performance tracking for the Account Executives (monthly, YTD, convention qualifiers, etc.)
  • Proactively identifies opportunities of improvement with the service representative and the underwriting teams

What you need to succeed?

  • Proficient in preparing high quality documents, presentations, etc.,
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Sun Life Financial's mandate and values
  • Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of a continuously evolving environment and manage requests from multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical skills for assessing priorities and problem solving under intense pressure of competing resources and demands
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and appropriately under pressure
  • Intermediate to advance PC skills, including the use of Microsoft 2010 (Word, Powerpoint), Outlook and web-based programs
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Must be comfortable with Excel functions such as pivot tables, v-lookups, and basic formulas
  • Superior organization and problem solving ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision making and influencing skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a strong team environment
  • Positive attitude and a strong customer service orientation
  • Basic to intermediate Group Benefits SunAdvantage knowledge
  • College diploma and 3-5 years related work experience in financial services

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
