Control Systems Engineering Specialist

As a Control Systems - Engineering Specialist, you will be part of a larger team responsible for administering and maintaining our automation systems. You will be focused on Process Control and Automation where you will working with technologies such as Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers and Safety Instrumented Systems.

Your Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement new control logic and safeguarding logic
• Execute Windows patching in the control environment to support Cyber Security
• Review and investigate Cyber Security concerns in our IDS system
• Review and troubleshoot alerts in our Network Management system
• Monitor and optimize automation systems
• Troubleshoot operational issues
• Lead commissioning, testing and verification activities
• Manage various automation system contractors (when applicable)
• Execute preventive maintenance routines and activities
• Document new technical procedures or update existing (as required)
• Provide guidance to support engineering teams developing work packages
• Provide support to HAZOP & LOPA activities
• Use workflow management packages such as Service Now and Cintellate for change management
• Participate in on-call support rotation

Your Skills:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical, attention to detail
• Must be able to quickly shift focus based on needs of the operation
• Self-starter, ability to multitask, proven ability to effectively contribute in a collaborative team environment
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills

Your Experience:

• 5-10 years of OT experience including 5 years in an industrial environment (refining preferred)
• Degree or diploma in Industrial Control, Electronics Engineering or similar
• NBSCETT PTech certification is an asset
• Red Seal in Electrical or Instrumentation is an asset
• Experience with OT systems such as Honeywell Experion, Honeywell TPS, Rockwell PLCs, SIS & Machinery Monitoring Systems
• Experience with automation/computer hardware troubleshooting, repair and replacement
• Experience configuring and supporting OT networking and firewalls
• Experience with cybersecurity best practices in OT environments
• Experience with the following OT systems is an asset:

  • VMware
  • Bently systems
  • Emerson AMS
  • Compressor Controls Corporation (CCC)
  • Prognost
