The JDI Tax Team is a dedicated group of professionals responsible for providing Canadian and US tax services and advice to the diverse businesses that make up the J.D. Irving, Limited group of companies. It is a unique team that takes great pride in its work product and offers candidates a real opportunity to learn and grow.
The Corporate Tax Analyst needs to be detail-oriented, results-driven and willing to ask questions. Strong organizational skills are a must. We are looking for a self-starter who can work with team members to learn and grow their tax knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Canadian corporate income tax returns and other tax-related filings.
- Prepare year-end and interim corporate income tax provisions.
- Research and analyze tax issues.
- Draft technical tax memos and other tax-related documents.
- Conduct tax-related due diligence for acquisitions.
- Provide assistance in responding to audits from tax authorities.
- Build and strengthen relationships with our clients and the other departments within J.D. Irving, Limited
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A university or college degree in a relevant business field.
- 3+ years of experience in Canadian corporate tax compliance and/or audits.
- Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation or equivalent experience in tax and accounting would be an asset
