About the role

We're looking for a Claims Manager, Property to join our growing team!

As a Claims Manager, you will have a significant impact on the achievement of overall objectives for the Atlantic Property team. You will work collaboratively with Atlantic Claims leaders to ensure quality claims management is in line with company standards. The successful candidate will also be responsible for driving employee engagement, efficient and effective work processes, quality service, effective indemnity and legal expense control, proper reserving practices, creating operational efficiencies and delivering on Key Performance Indicators ("KPIs").

This is a full-time permanent opportunity available in our Dartmouth, NS, Dieppe, NB or St. John's, NL offices, with regular travel throughout Atlantic Canada.

What you'll do here:

  • Create and communicate vision for the teams to support Atlantic Property objectives, while engaging employees and delivering outcomes.
  • Lead and motivate a large team of employees, including Unit Claims Managers and Consultants.
  • Oversee the recruitment and development of employees.
  • Establish and refine best practice workflows.
  • Prepare and follow up on operational budgets by setting expense ceilings in line with targets.
  • Develop and implement strategies and tactics to achieve our overall KPIs and targets.
  • Enforce Workforce Plan/Schedule by identifying the need for resources required to maintain set service levels and productivity benchmarks.
  • Ensure adjusters maintain quality work standards by managing results, both on a quantitative and qualitative level; ensure Closed File Review and Interval File Review compliance and create action plans as required.
  • Make decisions concerning loss reserves and claims payments in line with standards.
  • Participate actively in strategic projects and present to senior executives.

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • 5+ years management experience
  • 7-10 years of claims experience and/or related industry experience preferred
  • Claims adjuster license is required
  • Proven leadership skills and excellent communication skills
  • CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of property insurance and policy applications
  • Bilingual English and French is considered an asset
