What will your typical day look like?

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Consultant/Manager to join our Deloitte Payroll as a Service (PaaS) team. The Senior Consultant/Manager will play a crucial role in providing day to day support to the Payroll Managed Services team by providing expert guidance on payroll tax compliance matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll compliance and tax, with the ability to identify areas of risk, to perform payroll assessments and to assist with general payroll mapping and taxability determination.

About the team

Payroll Tax Compliance Advisory

  • Provide expert guidance and advice to the managed services team on payroll tax compliance matters.
  • Analyze and interpret payroll tax laws, regulations, and labor laws to ensure the managed services team operates in compliance with payroll processes and procedures.
  • Stay updated on the latest tax regulations and changes in labor laws to provide timely general advice to clients and internal teams and identify when to solicit the support from other Deloitte Tax & Legal experts.
  • Collaborate with the managed services team to identify potential compliance issues and develop solutions to mitigate risks.

Payroll Assessment and Mapping

  • Conduct payroll compliance assessments prior to onboarding new clients. This involves reviewing payroll processes, systems, and data to identify any compliance gaps or areas for improvement.
  • Assist clients with general payroll mapping to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing. This includes mapping payroll elements, such as earnings, deductions, and taxes, to the appropriate accounts and codes.
  • Determine the taxability of various payroll components based on applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other Deloitte Tax & Legal experts to resolve complex payroll assessment and mapping issues.

Client Support and Consultation

  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide timely and accurate responses to client inquiries.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their unique payroll requirements and provide tailored recommendations.
  • Assist clients with payroll tax calculations, filings, and reporting, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in payroll tax compliance, preferably in a consulting or advisory role in one of the Big 4 accounting firms.
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations and labor laws related to payroll processing.
  • National payroll Institute, Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation would be a nice to have.
  • Proven experience in performing payroll compliance reviews, managing payroll assessments, payroll mapping, and taxability determination.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze payroll situations and provide practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate tax and payroll concepts to clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; fluent in English, French is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Knowledge of any of the following payroll processing platforms would be an asset: Dayforce, ADP, Workday, Oracle, SAP

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
