Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $105,000- $140,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Manager, Planning & Portfolio - Life is responsible for supporting the planning and management of the Life company's strategic initiative portfolio. This role helps facilitate the coordination and allocation of resources, the prioritization of initiatives and the reporting to stakeholders and governance forums.

Job Responsibilities

  • ​​Support the Director of Transformation with the facilitation, coordination and management of the Life company's project portfolio, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and priorities.
  • ​Coordinate with teams and departments across the organization to prioritize initiatives and to facilitate the allocation of appropriate resources effectively.
  • ​Monitor project and initiative progress and support communication of updates to stakeholders and senior management.
  • ​Track and manage budgets at the portfolio level.
  • ​Support the intake of projects and initiatives and work with stakeholders and project teams to bring forth items to governance forums for visibility and decisioning.
  • ​Identify, escalate and help mitigate risks associated with the overall portfolio management.
  • ​Facilitate communication and collaboration among project teams and stakeholders.
  • ​Oversee and coach staff on Project Management best practices.
  • ​Support development of tools and processes to effectively manage planning and resourcing.
  • ​Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. ​

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or certification in Business Administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and/or project management, preferably with experience managing programs or portfolios within an organization.
  • Experience in financial management and budget management, including strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting and communicating with Senior Leadership and a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Advanced planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to identify relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in project and portfolio management, methodology software and tools.
