We are currently looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team in a permanent position reporting to the Senior Corporate Accountant.

Based in Halifax Nova Scotia, EE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Emera Inc. (TSX:EMA). We Market and Trade Natural Gas and Power and provide a full suite of energy management services.

As a Corporate Accountant you will:
- Accounting and financial reporting, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Preparing monthly journal entries and general ledger monitoring, including full working paper/audit file preparation, detailed account reconciliations and analysis;
- Preparing financial statements and analyzing the financial results; and
- Assisting internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits;
- Assisting with preparation of EE’s semi-annual forecasts, annual budget and annual long-term forecast;
- Supporting in the preparation of EE’s regulatory reports and tax filings;
- Collaborating with other Emera departments to provide financial information;
- Preparing other ad hoc analysis and reports as required.
What skills will make you successful?
You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:
- You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Commerce, combined with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related role and have completed, or be actively working toward a professional accounting designation (CPA);
- A related combination of experience and education will be considered;
- Knowledge of the gas and power markets would be considered an asset but is not required;
- Detailed oriented and possess strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team-focused environment, with the ability to handle multiple deliverables and work independently under tight deadlines;
- You must have a solid business acumen, customer focused and comfortable working with confidential information;
- Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel.
