About Our Opportunity


We're recruiting a Research and Statistical Officer 1A-B (Project Coordinator, Innovation), to join the Innovation Team. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that is focused on driving impactful change within DOSD. The Innovation Team leads a variety of projects aimed at improving service delivery and operational efficiency, and this position offers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that have a meaningful impact on the lives of Nova Scotians.

The Innovation Team supports several portfolios, all with significant process, system and people change. As part of this team, you will use your organization and financial management expertise to support various projects and overall Branch operations. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external partners, actively participate in your assigned projects, and work to improve business processes and systems within the Innovation Team. This position reports to the Manager, Innovation, and works closely under the direction of various Project Directors, Project Managers, and Business Analyst colleagues.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Assist with project management by helping create presentations and reports; track vendor contracts, budgets and expenditures; maintain project plans; communicate with internal partners; and keep project records.
  • Assist with portfolio management by helping gather project updates and manage project data for executive dashboards and reports.
  • Provide coordination support for the Branch, including scheduling meetings, managing client/partner and staff lists, drafting agendas, taking notes, managing tasks, processing and tracking invoices, and attending team and project meetings.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain and enhance project templates, processes, and guidelines, by using digital tools and streamlining processes.
  • Lead records management by ensuring all final deliverables and important documents are properly filed with the Central Registry.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience


We are seeking a highly organized and collaborative individual with a passion for teamwork and a commitment to the successful delivery of both departmental and government priorities.

As our next team member, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or other related field, plus at least 2 years of related experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), and SharePoint including experience creating financial tracking spreadsheets.


Related experience could include:

  • Project coordination or administrative support for a public sector organization.
  • Handling financial management tasks, including processing invoices and supporting financial management-related activities.
  • Developing reports, presentations, dashboards, and strategic communication materials.
  • Coordinating engagement event logistics, including managing client/partner lists, drafting agendas, taking notes, coordinating catering/supplies, etc.
  • Working in environments involving vendor/contract management and supporting large-scale projects.
  • Records management, including organizing and maintaining project documentation and templates.
  • Experience interacting and communicating with various internal and external partners.


The following will be considered assets:

  • Experience in Project Coordination, especially in the public sector organizations.
  • Familiarity with the Department of Opportunities and Social Development programs and services.
  • Experience with financial management, data analysis, and reporting.

Equivalency

  • a related bachelor’s and master’s degree
  • Completion of a 2-year college diploma program and four (4) years of related experience

Working Conditions


This role is based in a comfortable office environment, and you may be working at your computer for extended periods of time. You may be required to travel to worksite locations.

Your normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

Additional Information


This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of December 18th, 2025. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 04 - PR 07

Salary Range: $1,773.75 - $2,458.24 Bi-Weekly
