Job Summary

Support the North American Settlements Department by learning, improving, and covering processes and desks as needed. With extensive knowledge of the job and policies/practices, performs a wide range of advanced administrative/operational assignments and supports ad hoc projects.

Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Remain up to date on a minimum of 3 of desks so as to be able to back fill throughout the year

  • Assist with training and onboarding of new staff

  • Aid in managing volumes and organizing workflow

  • Work constructively with teams across multiple business entities in a fast paced environment

  • Process the settlements of North American Fixed Income & Equity Securities and handle all trade exceptions on a timely basis

  • Reconcile cash and position breaks related to settlements

  • Possess good knowledge of the products and systems required to accomplish daily responsibilities (CDS, DTC, APEX, ICI IMPACT, BPS, etc.)

  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, standards and guidelines instructions and ensures processes and controls are in place to minimize operations risk

  • On an ongoing basis will assist Managers, Canadian Securities Settlements with any ad hoc requirements / tasks

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Required

  • Undergraduate Degree / College Diploma or Equivalent Work Experience

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong risk management skills, including ability to determine when something should be escalated effective problem identification and resolution skills

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently as required

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced pressured environment

  • Ability to quickly respond to changes in routine without major errors or disruptions to supported business units

  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities across different teams

Preferred

  • CSC

  • Strong working knowledge or Windows and Microsoft productivity products (Outlook, Excel, Word)

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of brokerage operation processes

  • Client service experience

  • Previous settlements or operations experience an asset
