We are seeking a seasoned Technology Delivery Lead to oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex technical solutions across multiple systems, technologies, and teams. This role is critical in driving execution excellence, ensuring strategic alignment, and delivering high-quality outcomes for key banking initiatives.

The Technology Delivery Lead will be responsible to lead and support the technology projects under the EDB and Retail Lending Portfolios of the bank. This involves collaborating with business users, vendors and technology teams to understand problems and opportunities and recommend solutions to enable the organization to meet its goals.

The candidate will have a broad range of technical skills as well as the mindset and ability to foster collaboration between Development and Operations to advocate the delivery of key initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Delivery Leadership:
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of integrated technical solutions across a multi-platform environment. Ensure alignment to architecture standards and business goals.
  • Provides leadership by working closely with development teams
  • Cross-Functional Coordination:

Manage and coordinate delivery across internal and external teams, including development, QA, infrastructure, and vendor partners.

  • Technical Expertise & Guidance:
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance, validating solution options, addressing feasibility, scalability, and integration across systems.
  • Supports development and production issues in warranty, including root-cause analysis and diagnosis
  • Project Execution & Delivery Oversight:
  • Drive delivery timelines, manage interdependencies, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery aligned with scope and quality expectations.
  • Supports the management of specific project deliverables & outcomes to completion, as required to deliver business objectives
  • Risk & Issue Management:
  • Identify, track, and resolve risks, issues, and delivery blockers. Develop mitigation strategies to reduce delivery impact and escalate when necessary.
  • Assesses impact of design decisions to the computer solution/product/service being developed (performance, schedule, budget, downstream component/system impact, quality, etc.) and recommends alternate/creative solutions for mitigation/optimization if required
  • Works toward the objective of defect free software. Ensures that systems functionally meet requirements, aligns with architecture and promotes the development of common assets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Act as the key technology point of contact for business and technology stakeholders, providing regular updates and aligning expectations on delivery and solution approach.
  • Interacts with key business & technology stakeholders to define, analyze, and deliver requirements that reflect the needs of both the business and end-customers
  • Thought Leadership:
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying delivery best practices, innovation opportunities, and driving alignment to target state architecture and strategic direction.
  • Evaluates new technologies for fit with the program/system/eco-system and the associated upstream and downstream impacts on process, data, risk (e.g., security).
  • Recommends or automates approaches to streamline and integrates technological processes and/or systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen the capability at BMO, such as: sharing expertise to promote technical development, mentoring employees, building communities of practice and networks across technology.
  • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in technology delivery, with a proven track record of leading complex projects in financial services or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration, application development, and enterprise architecture principles.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and project management methodology.
  • Advanced knowledge in banking domain
  • Excellent problem-solving, risk management, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience with Agile, hybrid delivery models, and DevOps is an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of software development practice, concepts, technology, methodology, and trends in technology.
  • Ability to deal with complex organizational issues and make appropriate decisions/trade-offs as required.
  • Understand broader implications of situations; identify potential problem areas and execute solutions across the enterprise before they become problems.
  • Excellent partnering, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and influence others to accomplish goals/objectives.
  • Ability to set and manage stakeholder expectations and promote teamwork.
  • Gives presentations and leads discussions in front of small to medium groups of 10 or more
  • Lead cross-functional teams to proactively find department-wide solutions.
  • Negotiate and execute critical vendor relationships in support of systems and architecture

Salary:

$92,400.00 - $171,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
