The New Mobility team is building a suite of new products and services to solve complex challenges associated with moving people and goods at scale - in cities and factories. We are utilizing Magna's technology building blocks and capabilities to build a valuable business in new markets and use cases. So far, we have advanced solutions in city mobility markets (eg Yulu, Yuma Energy, Cartken, among others) and have other projects and target markets still in development including energy infrastructure, industrial material handling and software.

About the Role

Magna New Mobility is a Startup inside Magna International, a mobility technology company and one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world. Our Business Development and Strategy team is seeking an Associate to support our strategic growth initiatives.

You will be based in Toronto / Aurora, and work with Teams across North America, Europe and Asia.

As a Business Development and Strategy Analyst, you will have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact on Magna New Mobility's strategic objectives. This role is part of Magna's newest group, with significant potential for interesting career growth opportunities. #LI-hybrid

Your Responsibilities

  • Market Research. You will extensively research companies, technologies, and markets to identify opportunities for growth via portfolio additions, partnerships, and other engagements
  • Financial Modeling. Support the development and launch of our products, services and go-to-market activities. Perform strategic, market, and financial analysis to identify new opportunities and assess risks
  • Business and Corporate Development. Help to evaluate alliances and partnership opportunities. Provide analysis and recommendations to management
  • Analyze data, prepare information to support recommendations to stakeholders regarding opportunities
  • Monitor emerging trends in our target markets and other areas of strategic interest, and acquire and maintain knowledge of new technologies and potential future acquisitions
  • Benchmark and report on competitive business models and developments

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience in a technical field, such as Engineering
  • At least 3 years of post-secondary experience, preferably in Investment Banking, Venture Capital and/or Management Consulting
  • Experience in market research, including gathering data on market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities. This may involve analyzing industry reports, conducting surveys, and studying customer feedback
  • Experience in analysis, interpretation and a demonstrated ability to make succinct insights and recommendations supported by data, competitive analysis including benchmarking
  • Attention to detail: Supporting the Senior Executive Team as we build funnels of opportunity
  • High quality analysis skills with ability to synthesize and present findings to key stakeholders and executive audiences across Magna
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and careful record-keeping, and ability to manage multiple projects Passion for or interest in new technologies including electric vehicles, robotics and software.
