The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and complying with accounting standards. This role also involves managing financial statements, budgets, audits and internal controls. The accounting manager also provides financial insights to support business decisions and improve financial performance.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Financial Reporting:
Ensure financial reports to senior management and stakeholders with clarity and actionable insights.
Oversee financial records and ensure their accuracy, adequacy and compliance with industry regulations.
Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure optimal liquidity.
Cost Analysis:
Analyze cost structures, including raw materials, labor, and overheads in steel processing operations.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies to improve margins.
Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted figures, highlighting key performance drivers.
Business Strategy Support:
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements against budget.
Foresee investment plans and manage capital expenditures.
Provide insights and recommendations based on financial performance to senior management.
Work with the operations and procurement teams to identify opportunities for financial optimization.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Lead BS management, including fixed asset and slow-moving inventory management to maintain a sound financial position
Ensure that financial procedures comply with relevant regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
Develop and recommend improvements in internal controls to safeguard financial data.
Stakeholder Communication & Leadership:
Supervise the accounting team and provide training and mentorship to improve their performance.
Prepare presentations and reports for executive leadership and external stakeholders.
Act as a liaison between the finance department and other functional teams, providing financial expertise and support as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting. CPA designation required. MBA preferred.
5+ years of experience in finance/accounting area, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or steel processing environment.
Strong knowledge of financial modeling, cost calculation and supply chain management.
Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
People management skills
Strong attention to detail, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
