Mastronardi BerryWorld America, North America's leading grower and distributor of greenhouse produce, has created a partnership that will "WOW™" the North American berry market.

Our head office based in Kingsville, ON is currently seeking a Director of Finance to join our Berryworld team! This role is responsible for Short-Term Forecasting and Budgeting, Long-term planning, Monthly business reviews and Grower Pay Management.

Primary Responsibilities:

Short-Term Forecasting and Budgeting:

  • Develop and maintain short-term forecasts including comprehensive understanding of key inputs including: Acreage/Hectares plan, crop yields, grower relationships and sources, grower pricing, customer pricing.
  • Monitor and analyze actual performance against budgeted targets, identifying and explaining variances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Procurement, Business Development, Category Management, and Supply Chain. Partner with business leaders to ensure accurate forecasting inputs.

Long-Term Planning:

  • Lead long-term financial planning, considering market trends and growth opportunities.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop plans
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Varietals plan over the long-range plan timeline.

Monthly Business Reviews:

  • Prepare and present month-end financial reports and analysis.
  • Highlight key performance indicators and financial trends.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop action plans based on the monthly results.

Grower Pay Management:

  • Oversee analyses to support grower pay decision-making.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery and reporting of grower pay.
  • Monitor spending and performance levels versus budget.

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities including managing a team of 5 finance direct reports
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles.
  • Collaborate to maintain internal controls and develop financial reporting processes.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
  • Minimum of 8-10+ years in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and margin analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • On-site presence required in Kingsville, Ontario
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Experience in the agriculture or produce industry preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel between Canada and the US periodically.
  • Normal office environment with use of company computer.
