What You'll Be Doing:
Support Retirement Operations (50%-70%)

  • Lead accounting and reporting for a portfolio of owned and managed residences.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial results including management reporting packages.
  • Partner with the business segment to achieve financial strategy and goals via proactive KPI analysis and providing recommendations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Support interim and year-end audits and preparation of audited financial statements.
  • Create, maintain and follow effective control systems.
  • Provide support and guidance to operating units to ensure consistent application of proper accounting/ organization policies and internal procedures.

People Management & Continuous Improvement (30%-50%)

  • Lead and develop a team of property accountants, including mentorship of CPA students.
  • Contribute to and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the integration of new acquisitions and developments, as needed.
  • Performing other duties and support various projects as assigned.

Who You Are:

  • You have Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Commerce or related discipline with a Chartered Professional Accounting Designation (Canadian).
  • Experience working in Big 4 or Public Accounting Firm is required.
  • You are energized working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • You have excellent communication skills and able to break down complex accounting terms and data in simplified format.
  • You have advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • You are detailed and focused with strong analytical skills and able to prepare financial reports for senior leadership team.
  • You have strong people management skills (ideally 1 to 2 years) and able to prioritize, delegate and manage a team of diverse backgrounds.
  • You have strong organizational and time management skills with a sense of urgency and accountability.
  • You have track record in demonstrating initiative and commitment to continuous improvement.
