What You'll Be Doing:

  • Analyze monthly financial results and communicate risks and opportunities to Operations.
  • Act as "go to" support and share expertise including training team members and Operations.
  • Assist with the integration of new acquisitions and/or developments, as needed.
  • Contribute to and support new system and process implementations from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.
  • Ensure continued alignment with financial best practices including review of monthly results, capital, reconciliations, and compliance with funding policy.
  • Provide support and guidance to operating units to ensure consistent application of proper accounting/organization policies and internal procedures.
  • Play a larger role in the budget and forecasting process.
  • Maintain, provide oversight to, and follow effective control systems.
  • Lead and/or support compliance reporting processes, including planning, preparation and submission of required reports/filings.
  • Update, improve, or develop new compliance reporting procedures and related documentation.
  • Partner with Executive Directors, Operations Vice Presidents and other Leaders to provide timely, accurate and quality business analysis for decision making.
  • Perform month-end close procedures and reporting with quality and diligence, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
  • Book specific high risk, or as required, journal entries as part of regular month-end process
  • Work collaboratively with Finance and all Support Offices team.
  • Support interim and year-end audits and preparation of audited financial statements.
  • Performing other duties and support various projects as assigned

Education & Experience Required:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Accounting and or Finance
  • Minimum 3 years' business experience in a similar role (preferably in accounting and or finance in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment)
  • MS Office including advanced Excel (Lookups and Pivot tables).
  • Experience with Yardi, Point Click Care systems, and related industry experience considered an asset.
  • High degree of accuracy and analytical skills in tight deadline situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Quick learner and adaptable to new environments/processes.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
