Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Corporate has an exciting new opportunity for a Financial Process Specialist. The successful incumbent will collaborate with senior financial officers to identify inefficiencies in current financial processes and develop strategies for enhancement. Your role will involve liaising with the SAP Centre of Excellence to determine key areas requiring additional supporting documentation, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

The Financial Process Specialist will create clear standard procedures and best practice guidelines for the finance team, facilitating adherence to internal controls and legal requirements. Additionally, the successful incumbent will prepare essential documentation to support financial reporting integrity and maintain up-to-date records as new controls or processes are introduced. The role's focus will be on streamlining financial operations, ensuring compliance, and continuously improving the effectiveness of financial processes within the organization.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Financial Officers:
    • Engage with high-level finance managers to identify inefficiencies in current financial processes and collaboratively develop strategies for improvement.
  • Liaison with SAP Centre of Excellence:
    • Work closely with the SAP team to identify key areas within financial processes requiring external supporting documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Develop Standard Procedures and Best Practices:
    • Create clear and concise guidelines to assist the finance team in executing tasks that support internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Prepare Supporting Documentation:
    • Develop necessary documents to demonstrate compliance with financial reporting standards, facilitating audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain and Update Processes:
    • Regularly review and update procedures and documentation in response to new controls, regulations, or process changes to ensure ongoing accuracy and relevance.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Coordinate with various departments (finance, IT, compliance) to implement process improvements and ensure alignment with broader business goals.
  • Train and Mentor Teams:
    • Conduct training sessions and workshops for the finance team on new procedures and process improvements to ensure smooth adoption.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    • Present updates and findings to senior management, offering insights into how financial processes are evolving and where further improvements are needed.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is an asset
  • Experience in financial analysis or reporting is an asset
  • Skilled in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, inefficiencies, and using data for decision-making.
  • Background in internal auditing is an asset.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
  • Knowledge of financial regulations, internal controls, and effective risk mitigation.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for cross-department collaboration and clear presentation of complex information.
  • Ability to lead teams, drive change, and mentor on new processes and systems.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects, set timelines, and deliver results on time.
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial documentation and reports.
  • Understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Experience managing smooth transitions during new process implementations.
