The Manager, Corporate ESG is accountable to the Director, Corporate ESG for the identification, development, prioritization, implementation and management of strategic sustainability initiatives aimed at improving the company's market value through differentiation of the corporate brand, meeting our clients' and tenants' requirements, gaining cost efficiencies, effective communications and engagement, and proactively addressing enterprise risk management issues pertaining to their area(s) of expertise.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. ESG Assessment and Needs Analysis
    Works with the ESG team on external and internal ESG assessments and needs analysis to ensure that various business functions operate in accordance with best practices and meet the requirements of critical stakeholders; that various initiatives are aligned with the strategic plan and priorities.
  2. ESG-Related Business and Operations Planning
    Works with the ESG team to engage management, employees and other key stakeholders in the collaborative development of Business Plans for each ESG commitment and initiative and ensures integration of sustainability initiatives and solutions into the existing corporate ESG strategy.
  3. ESG Change and Project Management
    Manages change within the framework of the corporate ESG strategy to ensure effective implementation of Morguard's strategic initiatives.
  4. KPI Definition, Tracking and Analysis
    Part of the team that develops key performance indicators for organizational initiatives to assess organizational performance and track improvement against chosen ESG indicators, both as a Company and as a Real Estate Manager, performing on-going baseline analysis of the performance on relevant metrics and key performance indicators and ensuring that metrics align with future reporting needs of the organization as well as prepares plans to addressed performance gaps at the individual or organizational level.
  5. Risk and Regulatory
    Provides insight into on key risks and performance indicators to ensure asset integrity. Maintains knowledge of current and expected regulatory and industry reporting requirements and complete applications and disclosures for said reporting requirements within the given timelines. Assists in the publication of the Company's ESG Report as well as plans to address performance gaps at the individual or organizational level.

Minimum Requirements

Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Business, Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the ESG field. Direct commercial real estate experience is a benefit.
  • Experience in developing written communications, including external reports.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the various ESG reporting frameworks such as: GRI, GRESB, TCFD, SASB, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and general intermediate to advanced computer skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience related to various green building ratings (LEED, BOMA BEST) or healthy building ratings (WELL, fitwel) are an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of GHG accounting is an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with tenant or community engagement programs are an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the concepts and principles of responsible investment are an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with DEI programs are an asset.
  • Understanding of legislation as it relates to ESG across North America is an asset.
