What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will lead the team responsible for Payroll financial management including reporting, governance & control, statutory remittances & filings to government agencies and tax authorities and payroll remittances to vendors. You will oversee the International Assignment payroll accounting, cost recovery and reporting to domestic and international Finance and HR partners. Additionally, you will be accountable for the financial and operational risk management functions for Payroll Services such as SOX, external/internal audits, Unit Financial Controls.

What will you do?

  • Lead Payroll Financial Management, Remittance Reporting
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly GL reporting to for Canadian and UK Payroll
  • Ensure all payroll remittances to tax authorities and provincial/territorial Worker's Compensation Boards for all RBC employees in all Canadian provinces & territories are made within regulatory timelines and requirements.
  • Ensure benefits premiums and savings plan contributions are made within vendor / record keeper timeline requirements.
  • Manage the accurate and timely monthly reporting of employer paid benefit costs, administration fees and provincial taxes to HR and Finance COEs
  • Support the annual T4/Rel-1 production & related filings production & reconciliation processes.
  • Ensure DB employer pension contributions are accurately calculated and remitted with DB Employee contributions, to the trustee, within timelines and requirements.
  • Manage the monthly DC reconciliation of employee and employer pension contributions, made to trustee, are accurate and differences investigated and resolved in a timely manner.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Experience managing teams in large organizations operating across Canada and with employees on international assignments requiring shadow payrolls.
  • Strong financial and accounting acumen, risk management experience, payroll reporting requirements and regulatory environment.
  • Deep functional expertise in payroll processes, policies and programs across RBC
  • Strong experience with HR and Payroll Software applications. Experience of working with SAP and Workday an advantage.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to manage, inspire, influence and develop a team.
  • Professional Accounting Designation
