What is the role?

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Change Management and Communications Consultant to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading and executing change management strategies that drive organizational transformation and enhance stakeholder engagement. Your expertise in communication planning and execution will ensure that key messages resonate with diverse audiences, fostering a culture of collaboration and adaptability. As a trusted advisor, you will partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to assess change impacts, develop tailored communication strategies, and facilitate training initiatives that empower employees during transitions. What will you do?

Manage Change effectively:

  • Develop and implement change management strategies to support organizational transformation. Provide hands-on support to design, develop, and implement plans related to the transformation: Stakeholder Assessments, Change Impact and Readiness Measurement; Leadership Engagement; Communication Strategy; Change Network Approach.
  • Identify and quantify the people-related risks and develop formal plans to help manage and mitigate impact throughout the project life cycle.
  • Proactively seek out storytelling opportunities and create plans to generate content. Work closely with project managers, agile coaches, and teams to ensure alignment between change management activities and project deliverables.
  • Develop tools and processes to help with change management activities.
  • Identify opportunities to support adoption of new processes and tools associated with the transformation.
  • Gather feedback and analyze employee experiences to gather insights and adjust strategies as necessary to address concerns to enhance engagement.
  • Provide coaching and support to sponsors, leaders, teams, and individual contributors to facilitate change adoption.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of change management initiatives, providing regular updates to leadership to ensure change initiatives meet objectives and increase employee adoption and usage
  • Grow and leverage the change management network to help define and inform the change approach to embed change enablement within the organization's culture
  • Continue to build "change enablement" culture, which can be done through maintenance of the Change Management Resource Centre as needed, Workplace posts etc.

Communicate effectively:

  • Build, plan and execute communications plans and tactics using a variety of formats
  • Monitor, track, and share new digital and social trends, tools, and platforms to connect with our strategies.
  • Bring Client and Employee stories to life through case studies and other content formats.
  • Identify and partner with internal subject matter experts across the global coaching organization - provide support for team building events/ Town Halls and communities.
  • Reach out to key stakeholders for interviews and sound bites to support content.
  • Experiment with different content distribution methods such as audio, video, text, illustrations, etc. to inspire action.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to assess change impacts and develop effective strategies.

What do you need to succeed?

Change experience

  • Five or more years of proven, hands-on change experience in a corporate enterprise organization and relevant to the accountabilities listed above.
  • Deep knowledge and strength of experience to make change "stick" and provide proactive change activities with agility and impact.
  • Proficient in change management methodologies and tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in change management methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, analyze and research, organize and independently handle multiple priorities.
  • Adept at synthesizing large amounts of data and input into concise, easy-to-digest plans and communications.

Comms experience

  • Minimum five-seven years' experience in communications with experience both planning strategic communications plans and executing the recommended tactics
  • Strong storyteller with an understanding of how to create a narrative and tell compelling stories for various stakeholders
  • Exceptional written communications skills including editing, proofreading and attention to detail.
  • Experience with employee engagement and organizational change communications.
  • Experience with the following: Adobe Creative Cloud (Audition, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro), Canva,
  • Demonstrated experience creating short- and long-form content, infographics, blog posts, case studies, and newsletters
  • Ability to simplify complex or technical concepts into easy-to-understand plain language.
  • Deep understanding of the relationships between message, audience, and context.
  • Self-starter with the ability to deliver strategic communications plans and tactics, in a fast-paced environment.

Considered an asset:

  • A post-secondary or equivalent degree with a focus in one of the following: - Arts, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or Business.
  • Agile Change Management certification or similar.
  • An interest in digital innovation and technology. Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Experience with Miro, Confluence and/or Jira
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with executive/senior management communications

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
