Associate Director, Roynat Equity Partners, Canadian Banking

Purpose

Reporting to a Director of REP in Toronto/Ottawa, the Associate Director plays a key role in making and managing private equity/venture capital fund investments.

The Associate Director is responsible for providing ongoing support in the form of financial modelling, screening potential investment opportunities, conducting market research, providing assistance with due diligence, drafting investment summaries and internal memorandums, and general account administration. The role has shared support of a Senior Associate and Analyst.

Accountabilities:

Provide efficient and accurate support to Roynat Equity Partners through:


• Financial Modelling: ownership of the analysis of financial information presented by prospects and portfolio funds and their holdings
• Market Research & Screening: pro-actively identifying, researching and recommending prospects in consultation with the REP team; and providing accurate information and data to support recommendations
• Investment Committee Presentations: lead and take ownership of investment submissions and related memorandums on behalf of the investment team in consultation with the Director
• Due Diligence: provide support and assistance in all aspects of the due diligence process
• Coordination with internal and external parties to ensure smooth transaction closings
• Portfolio Management: monitor all assigned accounts; conduct portfolio analytics, cash forecasting and risk modeling: timely review of financial statements and promptly identify deteriorating situations with recommended solutions

Contribute to Roynat Equity Partners' productivity and service by:


• Manage monitoring and internal reporting and review activities for private equity/venture capital fund investments
• Ensuring REP reports and correspondence are completed accurately and promptly
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
• Assist the Director and the Managing Director with investment objectives and policies
• Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Director



Contribute to Roynat Equity Partners' new business development and marketing efforts:

• Maintain a detailed pipeline of prospects and potential deals through the firm's CRM system and external and internal sources
• Establish and maintain industry business relationships and centers of influence to generate on-going deal flow

Education / Experience / Other Information:

• 5+ years of experience in private equity/venture capital fund investments and portfolio management; Undergraduate degree
• CFA, CA/CPA, CBV or Masters' degree in business/economics considered an asset
• Completion of ILPA certification is required
• Solid accounting skills and experience
• Advanced Financial Modeling skills and experience
• Advanced knowledge of institutional investment principles and practices
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office - Word, PP, Excel
• Analytical mindset, strong valuation, due diligence and research skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high performing culture
