Egg Farmers of Canada is presently seeking an Audit Manager, internally called the Financial Policy Manager, to support the Finance Unit. Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Policy Manager is responsible for the auditing of Egg Boards with respect to levy and approves levy reconciliations. The Financial Policy Manager is the staff lead for EFC's subsidiaries: Advanced Layer Technologies and Canadian Egg Technologies, focused on licensing and royalties. The Financial Policy Manager has expertise in financial governance, financial policy development, and financial reporting responsibilities.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Act as the staff lead for EFC's Audit Committee
  • Prepare and present a variety of reports to the senior management team and Board of Directors
  • Monitor and ensure compliance of stakeholders with respect to a variety of pricing agreements and liaise with their financial counterparts
  • Act as the financial controller for EFC's subsidiaries: Advanced Layer Technologies and Canadian Egg Technologies. This includes recording all financial transactions, treasury functions, presenting financial reports to the Board of Directors and other financial aspects
  • In conjunction with the Finance Manager, develop financial policies and incorporate financial aspects of a variety of EFC programs
  • Assist with external financial audit
  • Schedule and perform audits of EFC levies collected from producers by Egg Boards, which include the following activities:
    • maintain audit programs
    • perform financial and compliance audit procedures
    • perform financial and statistical analyses
    • discuss findings with senior egg board management
    • make recommendations based on audit findings and issue the audit report
  • Manage year-end reconciliations of levy income and receivables for EFC's external financial audit
  • Oversee, review, and approve levy reconciliations on a quarterly basis to ensure transactions are properly recorded.
  • Serve as financial support to the National Vaccine Committee, including monitoring transactions of the National Vaccine Fund
  • Act as a liaison to Farm Products Council of Canada on various regulatory issues


Qualifications and Skills

  • In-depth practical application of current accounting and financial reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of applying IIA Standards or GAAS to develop audit plans and techniques
  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards using fund accounting methods
  • Understanding of Canadian tax laws and regulations
  • Expert understanding of Microsoft Office packages
  • Knowledge of evolving industry and best business practice trends
  • Functional communication (verbally and in writing) in French considered an asset
  • Ability to apply logical, evaluative and methodical thinking to identify problems and determine optimal course of actions
  • Ability to propose and recommend solutions and advise staff on complex financial policies
  • Ability to document financial processes in program descriptions
  • Ability to conduct internal control reviews

Education and Experience:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
  • 4 - 5 years of experience within a dynamic accounting and/or finance team
