Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for delivering research financial and budget services for large scale, complex, strategic, national and international multi-year externally funded projects. Reporting to the Manager, the Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the principle investigator (PI) to actively monitors the financial integrity of projects to minimize financial risks and maximize funding resources, as well as interpreting University and Sponsor Agency Agreements, policies, best practices, guidelines, and reporting standards. Responsible for large scale, international projects involve the understanding and managing of International Standards to comply with complex analysis, reporting and auditing requirements.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of accounting policies, procedures, and processes including financial and regulatory reports
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and specific public sector accounting standards
• Knowledge on International accounting standards
• Knowledge of relevant CRA legislation
• Knowledge of controller's office as well as the broader university offices, academic units, departments, and divisions
• Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific and enterprise software, and technology devices

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Completion of bachelor's degree in commerce or Accounting
• CPA designation preferred
• Five (5) years experience working in a similar role, within a university or public sector setting.
• Two (2) years of management or supervisory experience.
• One (1) year experience working with budget, project accounting and analysis, and financial management.
